An Owner’s Rep acts as the owner’s advocate across all project teams,
helping translate technical information into clear direction and enforcing accountability at every stage. This allows owners to focus on running their organization while PMSI focuses on managing the project.
Core responsibilities typically include:
Coordinating between architects, engineers, and contractors
Overseeing scope, budget, and schedule performance
Reviewing costs, schedules, and change orders

Project Manager
While the terms are sometimes used interchangeably, the distinction is important. A traditional project manager may be employed by a contractor or consultant and focused primarily on execution. In those cases, independence and advocacy for the owner may be limited.
An Owner’s Representative, by contrast, works only for the owner. The role is centered on protection, clarity, and control, providing strategic oversight rather than simply managing tasks. PMSI operates exclusively in this owner-first role.
